Democratic lawmakers Condemn Trump After He States They Should Face Execution

Democratic officials voiced outrage after the ex-president charged a group of Democratic representatives of being "betrayers" and stated they should be taken into custody and punished "through capital punishment" following their posting of a disputed video.

The Message That Triggered the Dispute

The video footage, shared on earlier this week, showcases six Democratic congress members who in the past served in defense or intelligence positions.

"Like us, you all swore an vow to protect and support this founding document," the officials affirmed in the short video. "Currently, the dangers to our governing document don't only come from foreign nations, but from within our own country. Our regulations are explicit, you can decline unlawful commands, you can reject illegal orders, you have to reject improper directives. No one has to execute commands that violate the law or our constitution."

Trump's Furious Reply

The clip seemed to provoke a furious reply from the ex-president.

On the following morning, Trump published on Truth Social: "It's called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these traitors to our United States should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL."

In another publication, he stated: "This is really concerning, and Risky to our Nation. Their statements cannot be allowed to remain. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???"

In a additional message, he stated: "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, subject to punishment by DEATH!" He also shared a declaration that stated: "HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!"

Opposition Leaders Answer

Following Trump's remarks on that day, Democratic leadership released a combined declaration censuring the remarks.

"Partisan aggression has no role in this nation," they stated. "Congress members who were featured in the video all served our country with great loyalty and distinction. We unequivocally condemn Donald Trump's offensive and dangerous threats of violence against elected officials, and call on GOP representatives to forcefully do the same."

The opposition officials also said that they had been in communication with law enforcement "to guarantee the protection of these members and their relatives."

"Donald Trump must without delay take down these extreme online messages and withdraw his dangerous language before he causes harm," the statement stated.

Representatives' Firm Answer

The representatives who were featured in the video also issued a declaration.

"We identify as veterans and security experts who care for this nation and swore an oath to protect and defend the national charter of the United States," they said. "That oath is permanent, and we intend to keep it. No intimidation, intimidation, or promotion of aggression will prevent us from that fundamental obligation."

"What's most telling is that the president considers it liable to punishment by death for us to restate the legal requirements," they stated. "Our service members should understand that we have their support as they carry out their vow to the founding principles and responsibility to obey only proper directives. It is not only the correct thing to do, but also our obligation."

They added: "All citizens must come together and denounce the president's demands for our execution and political violence. This is a moment for moral clarity."

Additional Partisan Reactions

The Democratic Senate minority leader also denounced Trump's statements and published on online networks: "Let's be crystal clear: the former president is calling for the execution of government members."

He added: "This represents an clear THREAT. All senators, all representatives, the entire nation – irrespective of political affiliation – should condemn this without delay and unconditionally."

The GOP leader supported Trump's claim that the Democrats had been involved in "sedition", describing the video as "highly unsuitable", stating: "This constitutes very harmful, you have important representatives of the government telling military personnel to ignore directives, I think that's without precedent in US history."

The Conservative representative also according to sources informed media outlets that in what he reviewed of Trump's publications, Trump was "explaining the crime of sedition" but that "legal experts have to examine the language and determine all that."

Executive Branch Reaction

During a White House press conference on that day, when inquired by a journalist, "Is the president want to put to death elected officials?", the White House press secretary responded: "Certainly not."

"Let's be clear about what the ex-commander in chief is reacting to," the representative stated. "We see current representatives of the American legislature who coordinated to arrange a digital communication to members of the American armed forces, to active duty service members advising them to ignore the president's proper directives."

She stated: "The integrity of our military depends on the command structure, and if that chain of command is compromised, it can lead to casualties, it can cause chaos, and that is exactly what these elected officials ... are fundamentally encouraging."
