Ex- Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor stands accused of performing assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
