The Streaming Giant Casts Ideal Performer for Bentham in One Piece Season 3

The Secret Organization is poised to exert significant influence in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the real showdown isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a adored, popular member has just been cast.

Netflix announced this week that the skilled actor has joined the One Piece cast for the third season and will play Bon Clay. Bon Clay possesses the power to change into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve touched with their right hand. The performer, who is identifies as non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will depict a rendition of that role re-envisioned as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag performer, in the live-action series, as in the initial comic and animated series.

The new cast member is joined by several other recently announced actors tasked with bringing the organization to reality, including head the main antagonist, portrayed by Joe Manganiello, a talented actress as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the lineup as the monarch of the desert kingdom.

Though the role is a major member of the organization, the character will be introduced in One Piece the upcoming installment. Considering the next season likely to portray the Little Garden arc, this signals a notable change in the timing of the character’s debut, one that could suggest more adjustments to the plot development.

Escola’s blend of precise humor and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the role. Along with their current animated role in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and multiple awards for penning and acting in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, emphasizing the range they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s widely praised figures.

Netflix's live-action One Piece show is due to premiere for its season two on March 10th, 2026.
